#ELECTION TOWER 2020: Philemon Naawun-tib Nang announces bid for 2020 UPSASRC Presidential Elections

The race to the office of the  UPSASRC PRESIDENTIAL Elections is getting heated and OheneKayNews can confirm that Philemon Naawun-tib Nang has formally declared his intention to contest for the UPSA - SRC PRESIDENCY position.

Below is a full statement given by him...

 I started making impact in the lives UPSA students since level 100 (second semester); ranging from raising funds to help our colleagues who couldn't afford all their fees. I used to move from class to class : students will contribute 1¢, 2¢ , ¢5 . All those monies became something that could help others , besides classrooms, I  run from one office to other, some extended their help, some insulted me, some asked me how will they know if what I'm doing is genuine or came to deceive them for money. During those times I heard  countless times, "this is the work of the SRC President, your president should have be doing this, not you". I understood them but here is the case I was the one who saw the need to do what I was doing.

 This was during revision weeks. I forfeited my studies and run around raising funds. I will encourage the victims to study but don't study myself, I have to make plans as to how to raise funds, I do rehearsals in my room as to how to talk to in order to touch people hearts so that they will give me the money to help my colleagues, in the night I cry out to God to favor me so that during the day I can raise funds.

 This issue of raising funds to help colleague students finish up  their fees continued semester by semester.

 I later realized if these  students who are unable to pay their fees have a part-time job they can help themselves, so i started looking for opportunities for them and God being so good, i came into contact with one generous man who wanted to start multiple of businesses, he agreed to absorb them as entrepreneurs in his company but it's still in progress because of one or two things they he has sort out. In addition still in level 100 I started processing Dissectors Club, I realized the educational system was not favoring us. It's making us vulnerable in the corporate world instead of able. So I thought of bringing this club to help give students of UPSA the competitive edge in the corporate world. The club took me almost one and a half year to get it started and  trust me Dissectors is going to make tremendous impact in the lives of students because now we have a got the support of government as well.

 My willingness to serve and the desire to make impact brought the motivation to aspire for the high office of the Student Representative Council of UPSA (UPSA SRC). My two and half years in students service has taught me that without power and authority your desire and willingness to make impact can be limited. Hence, my bid for the UPSA SRC President. All I'm looking for is the opportunity to enhance my capacity to make more impact. You can track good leaders by assessing what they have ever done; the lives they have ever touched and the impact they have ever made, this will give you a sense of direction as to what they are capable of if given the mandate to lead.

One does not need a leadership position to make impact and touch lives, if indeed a person has passion for service with a drive to make impact and touch lives, the person will start in his/her little way. But what a leadership position can do is to enhance the person's capacity to make more impact and touch more lives, trust me without authority and power, no matter how impact driven you are, your impact can be limited(This is from my two and half years experience of making impact in the lives of the students of UPSA). But if a person is waiting for a leadership position to make impact, it might be but empty promises for personal selfish ambitions.

Impact driven leaders communicate values(the worth of their works) not promises, they only seek for the opportunity to enhance their capacity to make more impact, but not to start.

The Bible says "show me your faith without works and I will show you my works by my faith".....and I say "tell me what you can do without evidence and I will show you what I'm capable of by my works"....

I can assure you that I'm the right choice for this race.
