Colleague aspirants, let us redefine our motives, self values and Interpersonal qualities before elections- Philemon Naawun-tib Nang ( UPSA SRC President Hopeful, 2020/2021)
Majority of students in most tertiary institutions in Ghana do not have maximum trust and faith in their student leaders as most students always refer to them as “thieves” who embezzled their funds. This has always posed challenges on student activists who desire to hold leadership positions to serve the interest of students. In the case of UPSA SRC, 2019/2020 academic year administration has seen one scandal after the other will pose a greater challenge like never before on student activists who aspire to serve in the capacity as UPSA SRC Executives. They will not only face this challenges on the side of students but also on the side of management and other corporate bodies or organizations. In order to fix the loop holes created, the SRC will need a formidable team whose fundamental values are Love, Respect, Service, Integrity, a Sense of empathy- being able to put themselves in others’ shoes, Selflessness - always placing students’ interest first before oneself, and as well as having the Spirit of team work - being able to work with all manner of persons regardless of their individual differences. I will therefore utilize this opportunity to call upon my co-aspirants that, we should redefine our Motives, Self values and Interpersonal qualities before elections, coming next semester for the 2020/2021 academic year after the Covid'19 pandemic.
